Revolutionary Leadership

leadership, leader, AmericaThere is a time for revolutionary leadership and rarely is it obvious. They were farmers, merchants, printers, plantation owners, lawyers, ministers, scientists, land speculators and doctors.  They were bound together by a deep desire to make more of their circumstances.  The battles were bloody and the methods of the Crown’s oppression ruthless.  In the shadow of the Battle of Yorktown and the eventual signing of the Treaty of Paris,  the long discussions, quiet conversations and heady debates gave way to a profoundly thoughtful and provocative document

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.  That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

And here in the United States of America some 236 years later we celebrate the wisdom and the extraordinary leadership exhibited so bravely by this country’s founders.
